WP 3: Monte Carlo Simulations of the Detector Response in Magnetic Fields and Systematic Investigation of Underlying Mechanisms

In WP 3, detector characterization will be complemented with Monte Carlo methods to allow mutual validation with results from WP 2 under reference and non-reference conditions. These simulations will also be carried out in close coordination with WP1 to study the role of the beam quality.

In addition, this work package is dedicated to developing a deep understanding of the underlying mechanisms contributing to the magnetic-field-dependent detector behavior, as well as the contributions of different particle species, using detailed simulations. These insights, together with the magnetic field correction factors, will inform recommendations on detector choice and favorable orientations, which will be formulated into guidelines for clinical practice (WP 4).
